SPATHODEA CAMPANULATA

Spathodea is a monotypic genus of phanerogams belonging to the Bignoniaceae family..

The only species of this genus, Spathodea campanulata,

known as African tulip tree, fountain tree, flame-of-the-forest,

Nandi calls, poppy (Dominican Republic), the meat (Puerto Rico)

and also mahogany from Santo Domingo and gallito in Venezuela.

In Mexico it is also known as galeana, or simply like (tree) Tulip.

In Guatemala it is recognized as a forest flame..

It is a species native to the African continent, widespread in the New World..
