Chambeyronia houailouensis
Chambeyronia houailouensis a rare palm tree, very decorative and sought after
growing in the remote Kua Valley, near Houailou, on the east coast of
new Caledonia, together with the Kentiopsis oliviformis (Chambeyronia oliviformis).
It has a yellowish-green capital and erect leaves., stiff and hard
keeled with very thick, leathery leaflets.
When the leaves unfold they are salmon red..
Young plants have very large leaves, bipartite and not pinnate.
The seeds are larger than those of Chambeyronia macrocarpa
and are covered by a smooth and uniform layer of fibers, similar to those of Hedyscepe,
instead of the tangled fibers so typical of Chambeyronia macrocarpa.
Chambeyronia houailouensis was not described as a new species until 2021 Y
previously known as Chamberonia sp. 'It's already’ o Chambeyronia sp. 'Houailou'.
in culture, Chambeyronia houailouensis is very easy and adaptable.
To get your optimal shape, mature plants are best grown in full sun.
The Red Leaf Houailou Palm does best in warm climates.,
subtropical or fresh, tropical, and even tolerates very light frosts on occasion.
