Encephalartos delucanus belongs to the so-called complex poggei, besides Encephalartos poggei also includes Encephalartos marunguensis, Encephalartos schmitzii y Encephalartos schaijesii.

The delucanus encephalartos form an underground trunk and the ground is usually only a few centimeters in diameter 10 a 20 cm. The leaves are between 50 Y 80 cm long.

Encephalartos natural site delucanus found exclusively in western Tanzania. There are towns near Mpanda, near Mount Sitebi and hills of Lugala. Also south of the river Ugalla some plants they found.

Male plants form a green cone, with a height of 10 a 12 cm and a diameter of 2 a 3 cm. yellow-brown cones of the female plants are green and when ripe.
