Ravenala sp. ambanja

Ravenala sp. ambanja La Palma del Viajero, Ravenala madagascariensis es

a plant related to bananas,

heliconias and gingers and a very popular ornamental throughout the world.

Anyway, what is little known is that there are different

species grouped under the same name,

which occupy different habitats on the island of Madagascar.

This particular form is common in the northwest of the island.

It is more compact than the common form, native of the east coast,

and features a smaller and lower trunk,

leaf bases are compactly grouped, dark,

orange color along the margins,

near the bases, and the petioles are whitish, waxy.
