Agave macroacantha
Agave macroacantha It is known by the vulgar name of Mexican Maguey.
This species is native to southern Mexico.
They are evergreen succulent plants with a rather compact and
slow growth reaching 70 cm.
The leaves are fleshy, greyish green in color and have thorns
dark on the margin and a long thorn (3 cm) black at the tip.
When they bloom they take several years to produce a long flower stalk of up to 3 meters high.
They can be used in rockeries, as isolated specimens, in cactus gardens and in large pots.
Be careful with sharp thorns, especially if there are children.
The Mexican Maguey needs direct sun exposure and high temperatures.
They are able to resist low-medium intensity frost.
The soil must be well drained and can live on poor land, dry, sandy or rocky.
